They say “change is inevitable; growth is optional.” For me, they’re one and the same. I want to change in order to grow — and that’s my new vision for Gibson Insight.

For some time, I’ve been noodling on how to do three things at once:

  1. Keep saying yes to helping more people and businesses.
  2. Cultivate an energizing (no burn out!) pace for our team.
  3. Continue to deliver top-notch service to our clients.

All of these things are important to me — helping out, practicing aligned living, and showing up with excellence. But throughout my work days, I’m often asked the same questions by different people, finding myself on repeat. I’m explaining the same steps, processes, and frameworks to bookkeepers and business owners.

So what gives? Can we really do it all? The answer to this riddle has started to reveal itself. While I can’t replicate the hours in my day, I can replicate my ideas and knowledge and share it with a wider audience.

That’s why I’ve decided to pivot Gibson Insight from direct client service toward digital learning and tools to help bookkeepers and business owners eliminate pain points and find success on their own.

A Little Background

I’ve worked in various parts of small business accounting since 2002. In that time, I’ve taught brand new bookkeepers and DIY business owners the nuts and bolts of small business bookkeeping. I’ve also worked with managers, veteran entrepreneurs, and experienced bookkeepers to up their game and improve their processes around all things internal accounting. I help my clients, team, and students create order out of chaos. What starts out feeling nebulous becomes concrete. What was intimidating and confusing becomes clear and enjoyable. Financial anxieties evaporate, and consistent, useful financial information takes its place.

I’m super excited to share these tools, skills, and processes with people all over the country.

Through online learning, we’ll be able to help more people take steps to help themselves, solidify their understanding, up their game, and remove pain points and repetition.

We’ve already launched two new courses:

  • Montana Employer Payroll Set Up — A step-by-step resource for new employers to get set up as an employer in the state of Montana. This course is a great tool for bookkeepers and CPAs to share with their clients who are getting ready to hire. It walks them through all the steps so you don’t have to.
  • EIDL Online Portals micro-course — A mini resource for business owners who have borrowed through the EIDL to set up an account for seeing interest charges, receiving statements, and making payments on their loan.

I’m proud that these courses will help people learn at their own pace and in an affordable way. We’ve got a whole bucket of ideas for tutorials, guides, and courses on a broad range of accounting topics.

Onward and Upward

I’m looking forward to this new adventure for Gibson Insight, and I hope you are too. Whatever your small business accounting needs might be, we can help you find the right resource to get you on your feet.

Stay tuned for more blogs and updates about the future of Gibson Insight. Adventure awaits!
